Microphone Issues

If the consultation recorder isn't picking up audio or the transcription quality is poor, follow these steps.

Check Browser Permissions

The most common cause is the browser blocking microphone access.

  1. Click the lock icon in the address bar
  2. Find Microphone and set it to Allow
  3. Reload the page

Safari

  1. Go to SafariSettingsWebsitesMicrophone
  2. Find the Quicka Health app URL
  3. Set it to Allow

Firefox

  1. Click the lock icon in the address bar
  2. Click Connection SecureMore InformationPermissions
  3. Find Use the Microphone and check Allow

Check Your System Settings

Windows

  1. Go to SettingsPrivacyMicrophone
  2. Ensure Allow apps to access your microphone is on
  3. Ensure your browser is listed and enabled

macOS

  1. Go to System SettingsPrivacy & SecurityMicrophone
  2. Ensure your browser has microphone access

Audio Quality Tips

  • Use a dedicated microphone — a headset or USB desk mic gives significantly better results than built-in laptop microphones
  • Reduce background noise — close windows, turn off fans, and minimise hallway noise
  • Position matters — keep the microphone 15–30 cm from your mouth
  • Test before sessions — use the microphone test in SettingsAudio
⚠️

If you're using Bluetooth headphones, ensure they're connected in "headset" mode (not just audio playback). Some Bluetooth devices have poor microphone quality.
